App Review: Parks 3 Step

Made by Dr Robert Burke at Calgary Vision Centre, the Parks 3 Step app aims to simplify the potentially troublesome binocular vision test for those practitioners with an iPhone (it's not yet available on Android). It's up on the App Store for £0.69 ($0.99).

The actual test is performed by tilting the iOS device in the manner of the patients head, in the order the app specifies, it will work through the Parks 3 Step with you and give you an astonishingly accurate response.

Graphically the user interface is sparse and in some places plain ugly. Whilst I can understand this is not the main emphasis for a clinical application when I'm buying an app I really to expect a certain minimum effort on this front.

There's no audio in the app, a spoken guide would have been a useful feature.

In conclusion, if you don't mind putting up with a really basic (budget?) interface but you do binocular vision work then this is a real gem of an app and well worth the purchase price.

Parks 3 Step is available now from the App Store for £0.69.
